What is an affiliate network? An¬†affiliate network¬†is a group of companies that offer their products and services to be sold by affiliate marketers. The companies that offer products and services are called “merchants” and the affiliate marketers are called “affiliates”. Both merchants and affiliates need to be members of an affiliate network in order to work with each other.

How does an affiliate network work? The “merchants” make their products and services available on an affiliate network website where the member “affiliates” can choose to market their products or services. When an “affiliate” markets a merchant’s product or service and makes a sale, the affiliate gets a commission from that sale. The affiliate network keeps track of all the referrals and sales on its website and makes the data available to both merchants and affiliates. The vendors and the affiliates can then keep track of how much they are earning by logging on the network website where they can check up on their stats. That’s basically how it works in a nutshell.

Now, that we have a better understanding of what an affiliate network is and how it works, here are the top affiliate networks that you can join if you want to start with affiliate marketing. Actually these affiliate networks are the top affiliate networks in the industry. A lot of professionals and seasoned affiliate marketers are using these affiliate networks to make tons of money. I’m sharing these with you as a beginner affiliate because these are the affiliate networks that I’ve applied for and got my applications approved with no hassle.

Before you join any of the affiliate networks on this list, I advise that you build your website first. This will increase your chance of getting accepted into these networks. If you don’t have a website yet, you can start one for free. You can read my blog here about starting a blog website for free. Or you can opt-in for a paid hosting option that can get you started for just $3.88 per month.

Commission Junction — This is one of the oldest affiliate programs around. So far, the only affiliate program that I’ve had success with as far as generating sales. Although the sales came from Facebook Ads instead of Pinterest traffic. I’m sure at some point Pinterest traffic will also convert into affiliate sales. There are many Fortune 500 companies that are in this network.

Rakuten LinkShare – This affiliate network is the second oldest affiliate network around. Like commission Junction, they’ve been around for a while now. They also have a lot of good companies in their network. Applying is easy. You should have no problem getting your application approved especially if you have a website.

Click Bank – This affiliate network has been around for a while too. They mostly sell digital products. Not too many big-name companies in this network. But this is the easiest affiliate network to join. You don’t even need a website to start promoting their products and services.

Share-A-Sale – supposedly been around for 20 years now, but I’ve just recently heard about them. They have many popular companies on their network that you can market and make money from.

JVZoo – This affiliate network has a lot of digital products for you to market. I got accepted into this network with no hassle. Just make sure you verify that you are the owner of your website by uploading an HTML code.

These 5 affiliate networks have enough products and services for you to choose to market. Start with these networks and get your feet wet in the affiliate marketing business. Good luck! I will continue to share with you my experiences, whether success or failure, with these affiliate networks. If you have questions feel free to ask or comment below.
